What factors affect the degradation of biodegradable garbage bags?

Biodegradable garbage bags are degradable bags that can convert more than 90% of its components into carbon dioxide and water in six months under industrial composting conditions. It has two restrictions: one is industrial composting conditions, not the natural environment. Biodegradable garbage bags are dependent on composting conditions. The most suitable degradation conditions are: temperature 60°C (40°C-80°C can be used) and humidity 90%. Such conditions can degrade rapidly. The second is the time condition. It will still take six months in the composting facility, and it will be longer in the natural environment. 


In fact, the compost degradation time will be different depending on the thickness of the material. If it is a plastic film, it can be completely degraded in 30 to 50 days. If it is made into a thicker injection molding product, it may really take 180 days, or even not enough. PLA material plays an important role in degrading garbage bags. During decomposition and incineration, the carbon dioxide produced is absorbed and fixed by plants and will not be released to the atmosphere, so PLA is also called a "carbon neutral" material.
